We had the good fortune of connecting with Celine & Joline Nehoray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Celine & Joline, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
My sister and I were both born and raised in Los Angeles. We come from Persian roots, our parents came to America as immigrants from Iran in 1987. Coming from a tight-knit family, with emphasis on strong cultural and familial values, it was only natural for my sister and I to go into business together. Our upbringing shaped our strong work ethic and love for one another. We grew up in a home with a very professional father and very loving mother. The combination of them cultivated our a) career passions and b) deep love as sisters. Growing our business together was made possible by the support of our parents. Our father pushed us to create and achieve our highest career dreams and our mother pushed us to place our sisterhood above all.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets our brand apart the most is our streetwear lingerie twist. There is something so sexy about being able to dress lingerie up as outwear. Corsets, lace bodysuits, vegan leather tops, they are too beautiful to be worn under clothes. We are most proud of all our organic press, and we are most excited about our upcoming retail partnerships!

We wouldn’t have gotten to where we are today with the support of our family. My father has been our greatest business mentor and strongest supporter of our growing brand. It isn’t easy building a concept from scratch, so the right team is what is most important.

Challenges lie in every and all businesses. The way you accept the challenge and grow from them is what propels you into the next facet of growth.

We have learned countless lessons, the most important lesson being how important it is to scale your company with the right team. You can definitely start a business as founders, but it’s nearly impossible to scale a business without hiring the right people.

We want the world to see our brand through our eyes — a brand built with love and passion for womanhood, femininity, and beauty. We want our customers to feel empowered, sexy, and limitless. We also hope to always carry items that are affordable to most, yet never skimp out on quality.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oo this is a fun one! Let’s say we kick off the week on a Friday or Saturday– we would start with a latte from Chit Chat, make our way to Malibu and enjoy sushi and sake at Nobu, perhaps visit our favorite stores at the Malibu Country Mart, do sunset drinks at The Little Beach house, and end the night at an oceanside kickback with closest friends. During the week we would definitely take a visit to our workspace– Spring Place, have lunch at Mauro’s, and dinner at Tower Bar. We would also make sure to venture out to Abbot Kinney for lunch at Gjusta and dinner at Gjelina.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We are surrounded by so many influential entrepreneurs but one special woman that stands out to us is Elena Bonvincini, founder of EB Denim.
