We had the good fortune of connecting with LENA. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LENA., why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I love doing what I do, and when I realized I could do more of it everyday fueled by my inspirations from different things all around me, I decided I could and should go 100% for it. Singing makes me feel like I can live inside of any kind of story being told.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe my background helps sit my art on a different playing field. I was once doing music in the K-pop industry in South Korea but I quit and moved to LA to pursue music I am more passionate about, which is music that resides in the Neo-soul and RnB realm. Up until now I’ve mainly just worked on my craft and skillsets vocally and instrumentally, but I am now ready to put together the best music and art I can in this moment in time. The music industry is in a very interesting space at the moment with all these different technological and business moves being created, but I believe I can be one of those fresh artists who can bring in a good amount of honesty, vulnerability, and authenticity to the music.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Asides from listening and creating music, I love seeing nature in the LA National Forest and taking hikes all around the hills in the area. There are also a lot of great coffee spots all around town whether you like black or more flavored coffee. Coffee spots I frequent in my area (Koreatown) are M. Co, Balcony Coffee and Tea, Awesome Coffee, documentcoffeebar, and It’s Coffee and Tea. My partner and I love eating and drinking in Koreatown after rehearsals or studio sessions. We often go to Korean pubs such as Louders, Jjan, and Honey Night.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to dedicated a shoutout to my parents back in Korea who’ve supported and cared for me and my career from the beginning, along with all of my new friends I’ve made since moving to LA. My friends give me a ton of love and support through this journey that I greatly appreciate. I’d also like to give recognition to my music and life partner who’s supported and helped me in the creative and performance process of my music.
