We had the good fortune of connecting with Bella Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bella, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
My favorite feeling in the world is to be inspired. Thus, I’m always observing like a sponge whether it’s something as simple as seeing a color that sparks emotion. I know pretty quickly if I like something or someone. I follow who inspires me as a creative or an entrepreneur and it helps guide me to become who I strive to be.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My ultimate goal is to be like Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, and Rihanna. They are well-respected as entrepreneurial creatives with good taste. My other big inspiration is the co-founder of now shut-down Colette, Sarah Andelman. She has great taste and is very humble. She’s well-respected by celebrities and is known for working with international creatives and businesses. I’d love to be happily successful in music and fashion. I’m most proud of what I’ve built so far, my skills, experiences, and relationships in my personal and professional lives. Nothing is given, you have to work for it, but I think challenging achievements can be perceived as easy if it’s your passion. I’ve learned to just let it be. Don’t fight it. If you want to take a break, take a break. If you don’t believe in “you have to be consistent with your content,” don’t be consistent. I think what makes artists real artists is freedom. You can’t force art. You should’t try to make tracks every morning. I personally don’t believe in that kind of persistence. I want the world to know there’s no limits. I’m still writing my story and building my brand, and I want to let each individual to take what they can take from me in their own lens.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Funny, because my best friend was just visiting me this weekend. Although I love living in Los Angeles, I’m not a big fan of the city to show people around. It’s not like New York or Paris. You have to know the spots, which I’m not a big fan of. I took her to Craig’s on Melrose for good typical LA-American food. LA does have the best food. I was planning to take her to Malibu Farm restaurant but my return flight from Paris got overbooked, so I could not make it back in time. I love Disneyland but she doesn’t. I don’t know. I tried.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to my former internship boss Dominique Dunn, former SVP of A&R at Roc Nation, Los Angeles. I’ve never respected and gotten the same respect back from any of my former bosses or co-workers. She inspired me deeply to be a good person and also be a successful and influential person in the entertainment industry. She took me under her wing, showed me everything, took me everywhere, involved me in her decisions, and I will never forget that. She’s also very humble and has a great taste in not just music but in everything.
