We had the good fortune of connecting with William Lemmon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi William, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
I would probably go with the aphorism, “fake it till you make it.” I’m unsure of where this saying even came from but I’ve witnessed it pan out practically every time. To be clear, in no way am I suggesting to be someone you are not, but, attempt to be who it is you want to be and you’ll find yourself dangerously close to manifesting it with precision. In practically all trades, entrepreneurs are lifelong students of their craft at the end of the day. If you’re willing to work hard, continue learning and innovating, then being that person or living that life you want to have is not out of reach. You’re the master designer of your own destiny.
What should our readers know about your business?
So, I’m the co-owner and principal broker at Broadway Insurance Services here in Los Angeles. I started the firm with the help of my brother back in 2014, from the very bottom of nothing. To this day, we’re somewhat recognizable I would like to think? At least as much as an insurance agency can be! Mainly by means of being one of the top-rated agencies on most of the review platforms, Yelp, Google, etc. Although we offer practically every line of insurance, we’re very heavily focused on property. The vast majority of our clients are property owners and investors. We typically find ourselves providing solutions for high-value homeowners, hard-to-place buildings here in the city, or host’s in short-term rental communities. Make no mistake though, we have thousands of clients from all different walks of life and industries which is what makes this city so great.
Broadway Insurance is a super close-knit business with only a few brokers that are highly qualified. Practically all of the remedial work that usually ties most professionals down has been automated. So, if you find yourself needing a solution and needing to be able to speak to a true professional, quickly, you can call right in or reach out and someone can immediately get straight to the problem at hand.
The difficulty of building the agency from scratch has really pressed us to continuously learn and be creative. We find innovative solutions for our clients that very few agents have the drive or willingness to do. Being a property investor myself, it’s safe to say that we truly understand the needs of business owners, professionals, and property investors from a deep hands-on perspective. Something very few insurance brokers can say they have a working knowledge of.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
With the beauty and diversity of Los Angeles, there are so many things to see. Whenever we have a friend coming in from out of town we run into this same exact situation.
I’m a huge fan of Ventura Blvd and always have been, just cruising the boulevard. There are so many cool places to shop and get food. Of course, a drive from the valley into the city wouldn’t be right without going through the hills to see some of the cool homes. Driving through the canyons into Santa Monica and checking out the beach is an iconic sight for anyone!
Since there’s absolutely no chance of being able to visit every place, I would zig-zag from Marina Del Rey, up to Brentwood, and take Sunset all the way through Silverlake and into downtown. End this day off in the Arts District or at one of the rooftop restaurants we’ve all become so acclimated to.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The single most important shoutout goes out to my twin brother Josh, we’ve partnered on nearly every single business endeavor since the beginning of time! If it weren’t for his insight and just fearless drive to succeed, I don’t think I would have been able to even partially pull off what we have together. To be fair though, we do have a very close group of friends here in LA, some spanning back nearly a decade to when I first moved here from Akron, Ohio. My friends and family, always willing to support or hear me out through ups and downs probably deserves the bulk of the recognition.
