Meet Symone Le’nae | Artist & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Symone Le’nae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Symone, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is definitely discipline over motivation. For me it is about taking control of your power and getting out of your own way. There are days when motivation will flow in and motivation will be nonexistent, in those moments is where we are tested. It doesn’t mean applying so much pressure you’re stressed about not accomplishing something but a reminder to hold yourself accountable to your goals and ambitions. This is my mantra and I repeat it to myself everyday when I’m feeling lack luster or unmotivated— it gets me up to at least do one thing for myself that will uplift my mood and make me feel good no matter how small the task is.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My artistry encompasses music, designing, sensual expression. I am most excited about the future of my design business alongside all of my artistic quest! Since I was little, singing, designing always played a huge part of my life… I believe my mom still has all my scrapbooks of things I designed! Throughout the years I never let go of those passions or rather they stuck with me; I continued developing and still continue developing my artistic skill sets. Getting to where I am now has not been easy and I still feel I am so far behind but, of course that’s part of the journey, the learning experience. One of my biggest challenges is sticking to one thing while juggling a multitude of others. As an artist it is hard to fully focus on one thing because my mind always wants to tackle a new project and develop new processes in creativity. I overcome this by factoring out what I am most passionate about in the present moment and where I see myself in that environment in the future. I have learned to practice kindness, patience and easiness with myself— as the world changes around us it is so important to tap in with self and check in; we are our own worse self-critics so checking that and knowing when/how to tune it out is helpful in letting creativity and peace of mind flow. My brand and all I do is rooted in compassion, love, mindfulness and dedication— those are the major components I want people to take away from my story.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My heart lives in Venice beach! Venice is usually the first place I go when I’m with friends or where I just go to escape as I could spend the whole day there it’s just such a vibe. I love walking down the boardwalk and taking in/supporting other local artist. I love putting together a picnic basket with cocktails and just post up on the beach until sunset. Belle’s beach House is a cute, tropical ambiance to grab cocktails and vibe out. I cruise through Slauson and Crenshaw just in honor of Nipsey, I enjoy showing my loved ones his murals, educating them on his legacy, music, business ventures. Santee Alley is a must of course for anyone who loves shopping! I always come here with my girlfriends when we just want a day of a little spending. There are so many finds you can come up on it’s almost overwhelming but so fun! There’s a variety of food shops around the Alley as well- Mariscos 4 Vientos, The Alley Dog and a variety of more yummy food stands! The LACMA Museum of Art is always an exciting place to bring friends, family or whenever I just want to check out the different exhibits. Olvera ST is also a great area to visit as it is so rich in history, food and culture. I have a love for astronomy and all things space so of course the Griffith Observatory is a must! 3rd Base near Sunset Blvd has a Margarita tree and need I say more?!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God, my family, Nipsey Hussle. My spirituality is everything to me so God always comes first. My family is my backbone, they have always supported anything and everything I do and as someone who is multidimensional I am always getting into a new venture, so it’s truly a blessing to have such a strong, trusting support system. Nipsey is an important inspiration in my life and even through his transition, that inspiration only gets stronger as time goes on. He knew who he was, what he wanted and had the discipline/drive to pursue whatever he wanted. His entrepreneurial mindset alongside his spirituality always stood out to me and I have a high respect for that.
