For me the biggest thing has been understanding the difference between motivation and discipline. No one is motivated all the time. No matter how passionate you are about a project, relying on motivation to accomplish a major goal is a losing battle. Read more>>

Showing up for my craft even when I feel an overwhelming amount of resistance. Practice, repetition, and fearlessness when creating. Taking things one step at a time, completing the next task in front of me instead of feeling like I have a load of responsibilities that I don’t know where to begin to tackle. Read more>>

Since childhood, I have always had a nudge about knowing things and understanding their background. It gives me pleasure to learn new things and expand my horizons, as it helps me grow intellectually and personally. Meditation. Particularly as a writer, I can’t think of a more useful skill that I picked up. Cultivating that more concentrated awareness allows me to sink deeper into my writing and extract more from the art I engage with.
