We asked members of the community how their organizations help the community. We’ve shared some of the responses below.

Sara Eigsti | Nurse Injector

I think that the business of aesthetics often times gets a stereotype for being superficial and frowned upon for trying to “change yourself”. I really want to shed light on how important self esteem and confidence is to mental health and the community. I also think it is important to have injectors out there who truly care about their patients, where expectations of treatments are always managed professionally and honesty is always the priority. Rose Avakian | Solar Contractor, Founder of OneSun LLC

Sustainability is still very much underrated! My passion for sustainability, along with my love for the solar industry, led me to starting OneSun, a local solar panel installation company based out of Los Angeles. Liana Bassior | Astrologer and Podcast Host/Creator

Astrology has been something that has been a passion of mine since I was a kid growing up in a spiritual and holistic town. Learning about my natal chart in my childhood brought clarity to parts of myself that I didn’t understand and helped me have a deeper look into why I felt certain ways. Read more>>

Lumalia Armstrong | Photographer, Author, Somatic Movement Guide, and Beauty Hunter

If we are all the moon, we all create the tide, yet some of us, business owners, entrepreneurs, and artists, tend to want to create tsunamis. I’ve always wanted to touch people’s lives on a level that doesn’t just satisfy the metaphorical hunger of a belly but empowers someone to know how to grow their own food. Read more>>

Sonya Barriere | Sensate Wizard of Breath and Body

In my business, I focus on how I can reconnect people to their inner awareness and feeling state at the level of the body. As a deeply kinesthetically driven human, I often feel a lack of refection externally in our culture. That’s not to say I want my work to produce more people like me, its to say that I see many people floating around out of tune with what’s going on in their bodies. Read more>>

Xienhow (artist Title) Aka The How (director Title) | Recording artist, philanthropist, and visionary filmmaker.

Well as an artist, I understand how important it is to speak and be heard. Many artists in our communities don’t always have all of the resources available to them, or the know how, to take their careers to higher levels. Being someone who has pursued music as a form of expressing my views on personal experiences and society as a whole, I understand how important it is to share whatever platform I can provide as an independent small business. Christopher Noland | Real Estate Investor

The guide on how to invest in property with little to no money down remotely is designed for anyone to benefit from, but it was actually inspired by some residents in Milwaukee. I contacted the residents because I was interested in investing in the area, and their number one complaint was that investors do not take care of the properties. I asked them if they had ever considered investing in their own neighborhood or why they think the homeownership rate is so low, and they said, quite frankly, that most people lack financial literacy. Tortis was created to promote equality in sport. I had the idea to start a women’s sportswear brand after racing an Ironman back in 2014 and noticing how underrepresented and underserved women are, particularly within the sport of triathlon. Training for and completing an Ironman was one of the most transformational moments of my life, yet the experience neglected women entirely. Read more>>

Dave Allen

I have been a musician from a very young age. At first, my desire was to play music because of the great enjoyment I received from it. As time progressed and I became better at my craft, I realized that the music I was playing and creating in the moment directly affected others. It started with my close friends and family and then when I began performing, recording and teaching, I realized the broader communities that I was involved in were affected as well. Read more>>

Sonya Azeemey

I feel there is a profound connection between creativity and the human experience. Without it we are not able to define ourselves. It’s the foundation of every community and it’s what empowers us as individuals. Therefore, by applying makeup on my clients, I am not only creating a makeup look for the camera but feel to be taking part in empowering their journey in life. Read more>>
