We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Cochran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Well, I currently work in the hospital in the medical profession full time and attending school full time. Education and maintaining stability has always been important to me. It gets hard, but worth it. There were times I was taking my medical classes at night after work while freelancing at the news station. That was brutal but again, worth every minute. I recently have been signed to a talent agency as a production makeup artist. Signing with Talent Plus Agency has been the most exciting experience. Time wise, I always try to communicate with my agent, my work, school schedule and make time for the agency so I can do my job. Honestly, I would be nothing without a planner and God. I literally plan projects ,events 6 months out. I know that sounds crazy but it helps me maintain a steady flow. Times I feel defeated or overwhelmed, I take a day to myself or listen to motivations speakers and affirmations. Sometimes I look back and think how can I do all these things but when you love what you do it makes it easier. I thank God every day for keeping me positive and keep pushing.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think faith and the will to want to create something , got me to where I am. I don’t feel I did anything special but just being myself. The connections I’ve made in my life are real people and we all have a common interest to create and to are hard working. When you find people who think like you and want the same outcomes that is magical. When you all are willing to put in tireless hours in to fulfill a vision is the best part. Working as a creative is not a job, you have to constantly be innovative and create something that is sustainable. Faith in myself is what helped me. I knew I always had a passion for art and helping others. It’s not easy at all. There technically are no rules how to get to where you have to go. You literally have to create your own blueprint. I’m a bit shy but I always wanted to share my gifts with the world. Artistry helped me express myself and help others express themselves. Lessons I’ve learned along the way, do it! Even if you are afraid, you never know until you try. Do it for you, no one else. What I want people to know about me, story is that you truly can make a way out of nothing. I started from just doing makeup at home and drawing, posting weird looks, shadowing ,volunteering and stepping out on my own, building experience. You can do it, don’t get discouraged!:)

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
