We had the good fortune of connecting with Candase, Ashley and Dr. Brittany Chambers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candase, Ashley and Dr. Brittany, how have you been affected by Covid-19?
One of the things we are proud of as business owners of Bay Belle, Inc. is taking every opportunity to tap into our creativity while giving our customers unique and urban pieces that they can see themselves wearing. During this COVID-19 crisis, our goal has remained the same but it has pushed us to pivot into other avenues and be even more creative while staying true to our brand. In the past month, we have started creating custom masks to meet the need during COVID-19 but also to give back to our community in Oakland, California. The proceeds from every mask sold have helped us provide free custom masks for the homeless community in Oakland as well. We initially hesitated on the idea of masks but quickly noticed that our design and materials quickly set us apart from other offerings in the market and our customers noticed, too. They instantly fell in love with the brand elements we infused into our masks like denim, silk, animal print, vibrant colors, and the ability to custom order a mask fit to their personal style. We saw a need and are grateful that we’re able to help our customers and their families stay safe while making a fashion statement. This health crisis pushed us to pivot but also has shown the extraordinary support from our customer base.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Bay Belle was born from three Bay Area sisters, Ashley, Brittany and Candase Chambers. As Oakland natives, their personal style was influenced from the culturally diverse Bay Area. Still, these beauties couldn’t find fashionable, high quality clothing at affordable prices. That’s when they decided to create Bay Belle, a fashion-forward, sexy collection for women. All three sisters are UC Berkeley alums and all proud glam moms!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oakland has so much to offer with a lot of raw talent and culture. Spending a week in the Bay Area would include eating brunch at Brown Sugar Kitchen, salmon and plantains at Kingston 11, barbecue at Everett and Jones, and Sunday dinner at Lois the Pie Queen. Some other exciting places to check out are Showin Out Hair Gallery, local businesses Taylor Jay and McMullen, Bobby Hutton Park in West Oakland, Trap Art, the Museum of the African Diaspora, plus shows at the Fox Theater.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We want to shout out our customers who have always been down with us over the past five years since we started, and continue to support and wear our brand. We love our #BayBelleBabes!
