Cassy Laessig | Hair & Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassy Laessig and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassy, how do you think about risk?
There are a wide variety of benefits that come to those who face the fear of uncertainty. Risks have exposed me to new life experiences, opportunities, ideas and skills which have helped me grow and develop into a more wise and confident person. No matter the outcome, I truly feel like I’m living and experiencing life to the fullest when I overcome my debilitating fears. In the end, you are more likely to regret the risks you didn’t take, than the ones you did.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a hair and makeup artist specializing in beauty, creative & special makeup effects. With a history in fine artistry, I am well rounded with a keen eye for detail. I grew up taking art classes which has inspired me to create art on a live canvas. After becoming a licensed cosmetologist, I continued my education by completing the Master Makeup Artistry program at Make-up Designory in Burbank, CA. I now travel around the U.S. for photo shoots, music videos, weddings, and live events. My journey hasn’t been easy but my positive attitude has helped me respond to failure with optimism. Challenges are what make life interesting!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends came to the Los Angeles area, we would hop in the car, roll the windows down and take a drive down Pacific Coast Highway, through the Santa Monica Mountains. I would show them how beautiful the California coastline is. We would likely spend a day- or two- soaking up the sun and learning how to surf at Venice or Manhattan beach. A hike up to the Hollywood sign would be fun as well as a day at Magic Mountain. Also, what would a trip to Los Angeles be without food trucks and In-N-Out!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a special shoutout to my cosmetology instructor, Nicole Hocking, at Gogebic Community College. Nicole is a remarkable person with great enthusiasm and nothing but compassion for her students. Because of her influence, I am a better person both personally and professionally. My dream career all started when she chased me down the hallway and recruited me into the program!

Well… I’m that cosmetology instructor (Nicole Hocking) that sought Cassy out for our cosmetology program. This is one young lady who has left an imprint on my heart. I am so very proud of her for many reasons! I am most touched by her sincerity and humble personality. What Cassy might not realize is that she enriched my life just as much, if not more, as I did hers. I put a little hand written post it on her station mirror in school one day that said “shine bright” and she sure has! Not only is Cassy talented she is kind, honest, reliable, has great integrity and is absolutely beautiful! She is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. Cassy makes this world a better place and I am honored to have been a part of her journey. I feel blessed that we continued to stay in touch and remain close.
