I have a few affirmations I like to tell myself in the mornings to kick start my day. 1. I have plenty of time to accomplish everything I need and want. 2. I can do anything I set my mind to. and lastly, 3. I do enough, I have enough, I am enough. The last quote is one I sometimes say more times throughout the day especially when I’m starting to feel burnt out or when I am trying so hard to do many tasks that in reality is too much. It is a reminder to myself to take a step back, breathe and take it one step at a time. There is no need to rush things or over exert myself trying to finish. Read more>>

My favorite quote is from Livingston Taylor, a music mentor I had a while back while attending a summer songwriting intensive through Berklee when I was just starting out in songwriting. He gave us a book of quotes, my favorite of which was “they will not accept your passion until they are held by your discipline”. I really love this quote because it reminds me as I continue to write music that songwriting is more than just an emotional release, it’s also a craft and a discipline. Read more>>

“Life is an expensive game. So get your money’s worth.” You wouldn’t want to play a game safe in hopes of staying in the comfort of the initial start location. Even if you only had one game-life, you’d try to explore the game world as much as possible and discover everything it has to offer. That applies to life as well. You only have one, so don’t be afraid to make it as exciting as possible! Read more>>

My favorite quote is “when you’re uncomfortable you’re growing.” To me it signifies that uncomfortable feeling we get when we push ourselves. That moment when you’re about to do something you are afraid of.. you think”oh no, I might fail. I don’t know what I’m doing, this doesn’t feel familiar” but pushing through that feeling is how we grow. And when we grow we get better. Wether that be through failure or success. Read more>>

I have a lot of favorites and one is by Ernest Hemingway. The quotes is “You must be prepared to work always without applause.”. It reminds me that from the start, I need to create for myself. Nowadays, I think it’s easy to get caught up in what is popular or trending and create from there. Lately, it’s been more difficult exploring and enjoying the process for myself and I’m working on getting back to that. I think this quote is a good reminder of what propelled me into this field, which was having fun and creating for my enjoyment. Read more>>

I actually have a few favorite quotes/affirmations. The two that resound with me the most are ” Do onto others as you want done unto you” and “Bloom where you are planted”. My mother would always tell me, don’t treat anyone in any way that you wouldn’t want reciprocated, so I remind myself of this constantly when responding or reacting to situations. I apply that mindset to my business/career as well; I try to always correctly represent the brands or companies I work with in the same manner that I would want people to treat my company. Being a entrepreneur, its so difficult not to compare your success and just overall lifestyle to others, especially in the age of social media. Read more>>

“There is no way you worked so hard for it not to lead to something amazing.” This is something I’ve heard Mel Robbins say in one of her books or maybe in one of her presentations and it resonated with me so much that I have it on a sticky note on my computer. This is a beautiful reminder that all your hard work will lead to something eventually but it might just take a little while.
Sublime & Co. recently celebrated its first anniversary, and I had many moments when I questioned myself and I wanted to give up, but this quote is something that I keep coming back to as a way to motivate myself and push myself forward. Read more>>
