We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Orellana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The goal I set with starting my own business was to be completely transparent, genuine and authentic as a business and a professional and for clients to be able to not only feel that but see it as well. I believe that the world needs more of that.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being in the skincare industry I have found that being transparent, genuine and authentic has allowed me to gain a faithful following. I see every client for the individual that they are, I embrace who they are and try my best to demonstrate my genuine care. I would say that my love for the work has been a key driver in getting me where I am today. It came with its challenges in the beginning which was really uncertainty in being successful. I have overcome that fear by embracing my individuality and knowing that who I am will align and draw the people that were meant for me to take care of and failing doesn’t scare me. I would want the world to know that as an individual, professional and business owner, I don’t know it all and I embrace and am proud that I am always a student who is constantly evolving and I strive to provide the best of what I know with lots of care and genuine love.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I have an appreciation for gastronomy so we would definitely visit some interesting restaurants depending on what we’re in the mood for. I love the outdoors so we would go hiking, visit the beach, walk at a park, visit a botanical garden (I love plants!), go bike riding or roller skating and visit tea houses. In the evenings, dress up and go salsa dancing or dress down, cook something up and watch some all American classic films.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There have definitely been many people through the years who have been a great source of motivation for me and the work that I do. I can even go as far as my initial hesitation in getting licensed to be a part of this wonderful industry that I love so much. But the one person that stands out to me the most is my wonderful dear mentor and friend Brigitte Beasse, from brigitte BEAUTÉ in Beverly Hills, who took me under her wings since I was in beauty school. While working together, she dedicated many years in teaching me the very sought after French standard of beauty, With being attentive to even the smallest details in the work, my love for the industry was definitely reinforced. I have taken many trainings after my time with her with world-renowned master trainers but the core of my passion and expression of the work definitely traces back to her.
