We had the good fortune of connecting with Ami Takashima and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ami, why did you pursue a creative career?
It’s because there’s no “Right” answer when it’s become to art. Art is free and something you can express yourself. The real you.
So I just don’t stop being myself and create when I feel like to 🙂
Even though it’s coming from dark energy, I think it’s still beautiful if that Art is coming from your honestly feelings!
I always make sure that whatever I create is coming from my soul so I can really be in love with my Art and also when it’s coming from right place, you don’t care what people think about your Art.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Today, I’m here in LA as a professional Dancer all the way from Japan 🇯🇵 I started dancing since I was a 9 years old and started taking serious about dancing when I was around 13.
I think as a teen girl, I was always trying to make my mom happy by dancing and I got lost when I was 18.
At the time I wasn’t sure how much I love dancing and why I was dancing.
I wasn’t happy or having fun when I was dancing.
I didn’t have any big dreams as a dancer in Japan so I was thinking to quit after the high school but my mom push my back to fly out to see the dance scene in LA.
And That experience definitely changed my life and to become who I am today!!
After I found the love in dance again, I also found my dreams as a dancer.
I moved out to LA to train myself to get better and was able to archive a lot of goals I set from the beginning of LA life:)
Getting the artist visa was one of my goal and since I got it, I’m just living my dream life to make more dreams come through!!
I learned that I have to believe in myself always and everyday.
Sometimes it was little hard for me to believe in myself because I used to compare between someone else and myself.
But at some point I realized that I can not be better than anyone and no one can be better than me.
I am one and only Ami Takashima in this whole world and I let my guard down to love who I am and accept how beautiful I am.
I’m still/forever working on myself to become the lady who I wanna be and I’m ready to get through all the walls that’s come on my way in the future ✊🏻

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely going to get some boba at Teapop and gonna drive to thrift store in valley on Ventura Blvd (Iguana , American Vintage) And gonna get some food depends on the mood from Pho Noho, Manpuku or some Thai food(Burn rau etc) and after that, we’re going to hookah rounge or the random bar in Valley 🤎

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
