We had the good fortune of connecting with Irving Keys and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Irving, how has your work-life balance changed over time?

After graduating from SFSU with a bachelors in Audio Production, my main focus was to find a stable job in my field, a start of something new. Working with the public can be a little hectic. Especially when covid-19 took over and made it even more stressful. I keep my work and time balanced by focusing on my goals and staying consistent. Also investing time in friends and family, and taking care of my dog she’s like a daughter to me, my roommate. I can not let work take over my path in music. I have to share my time and put in extra hours for my music, it’s my passion. I don’t mind working for my success it’s all about timing. When my job does not provide me with more pay and hours, I learn how to cope and find ways to keep my life balanced.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

The lessons in music I learned came as a child. I was involved in a christian church band with my brother. I was able to grow heavily in the music by playing piano and the drums. That’s was the start of my music career. During college in the bay area it was all about culture, that’s when I became a dj and producing beats for artists. It helped me grow and shaped who I am today. People started to know who i was during my events and social media. Moving back to Los Angeles where i am from is the home of the celebrities. I joined the Hollywood stars and was walking the streets of West Hollywood Blvd to catch my gigs. I had a chance to bring out my name in Las Vegas. I love music it is my passion it gives me confidence and with experience brings success.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

If my friend were to visit me in Los Angeles i would take them to the beach, specifically Manhattan Beach its a nice beach during the summer. It is close by in the area where I live. The next day we can go to Hollywood and go to the walk of fame and also Universal Studios and see the some of the movie sets. The nightlife in Hollywood is amazing and it is a memorable time to be at. LA has many different spots to check out, its so big! Catching a Laker game at the Staple Center or Dodger game will be epic too. Lets take an adventure together in this amazing city, i can lead the way.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

When it comes down to shoutouts, its hard to say one name. During school I had network connections that helped me become a figure in the music industry. I was able to collaborate with a few people who were also on their way in the music industry and managing their own business like Chris O’ Bannon, DJ Mikecool, Gogetta KB, Innocent Mind, Marce B, DJ Lazyboy, Dacoldsteppa, Jarvis Neely, Los Rakas, and many more. No one is perfect, we all trying to do and become better and turn it into something big.
