We had the good fortune of connecting with Arman Aloyan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arman, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
This is a topic that crosses my mind all the time. As an artist of any sort, it’s important to prioritize work and having a life. I used to think that working on music was the only thing of importance to contributing to my success. I would spend countless hours learning and developing a musical voice. I don’t regret any of it, since it made me grow both as a person and artist. Over time, I came to realize that balance is the key to a successful career. Yes it’s important to constantly learn and stay up to date with music and perfect your art and there will even be days where you don’t sleep because of how excited you are to work. But being able to enjoy free time and coming back with a fresh ear the next day can be even more helpful!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Getting to the position I am is something anyone can do. Yes there are some things that are less easier to teach like having a decent ear and taste for music. However, most things I have learned can be self-taught. Something I have benefited from is having patience. Success in any art takes time and consistency. I used to think I know a lot about music, then I found out I actually know a small percentage of a bigger picture. Be open to always learning and pushing yourself because it’s no use to do what is already out there. The industry moves forward from people changing the standards and breaking rules!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I really enjoy Disneyland because it’s so timeless. One of my favorite places to eat is my aunts house since she makes jaw-dropping meals, but I don’t know if I can necessarily take a friend there.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Would like to give a shoutout to my parents, friends and girlfriend for always supporting, loving, and giving me the inspiration to continue pursuing my goals.
