We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Curtis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
This is a great question! I would have to say that the biggest contributing factor to my success and the success of my businesses is that I have no issues remaining a forever student. There are always new techniques to learn from other professionals and the Aesthetics Industry is forever evolving. Staying up to date with the latest research, technology and not letting pride or ego drive the car is essential. Being flexible is a great way to do business no matter which industry you’re in and understanding that there will be ebbs and flows of feeling “successful” and also feeling like a beginner all over again.
What should our readers know about your business?
Evolve Skin + Wellness was created to help our clients gradually understand and improve the health of their skin and well-being. We provide advanced skin therapies, luxury facials and acne-coaching in Los Angeles, Orange County & San Francisco. What sets us apart from others is our ability to create a complete sensory experience from the moment you step foot into our doors – candles are lit, the energy is warm and inviting and the music is playing softly throughout the rooms. You might be coming for a transformative skin treatment, but you’ll leave feeling overall more balanced and peaceful. This level of attention to detail will never be easy to maintain, but it’s a lifelong, passionate pursuit for me and for my team to provide an above average experience for every single client. The biggest lessons I’ve learned in business are to take excellent care of myself first and foremost, take my time when hiring new team members, maintain open/clean dialogue with clients and staff, and to be patient with the process of growth. I want the world to remember the serene spaces I create and I want to have a lasting, positive impression on every person I work with.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If they’re arriving Friday morning and it’s a nice day, we’re immediately heading over Zuma Beach in Malibu and then NoBu for dinner. The next morning is a little hike at Runyon Canyon followed by brunch at Catch LA. After that, we might go walk around or ride bikes in Santa Monica/Venice Beach and hit up a comedy show at The Laugh Factory. Sunday is Bottega Louie in DTLA and then walking around LA Live/South Park.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Aesthetics and Skincare Community on Instagram that I’m lucky enough to be a part of has been instrumental in my success! Particularly my dear friend Reanne Kelley who owns Aesthete Medspa in Seattle, WA — Reanne welcomed me into her circle many years ago and I’ve since met dozens of friends with similar businesses/interests who’ve turned into partners and collaborators.
