We had the good fortune of connecting with Breana Pulizzi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Breana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business when I was 22. I have always felt creatively drawn to the art industry. Photography had been a passion of mine and then I had my first daughter which was my jumpstart to wanting to be my own boss. I needed something that had flexibility but also a creative outlet. So I decided that I wanted to capture her moments as much as I could and dove straight into starting a business that would help me do what I love and also keep me home with my daughter.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One of biggest goals as a photographer was the take the experience from being a Photoshoot to being an adventure. Sounds cheesy but honestly I can’t tell you how many people are shocked when I tell them that we are done. They didn’t even feel like they were taking that many pictures. We go hiking on some beautiful trails and wander until we find some beautiful un-used spots. In doing this is gives me such a large variety of locations, looks and it also helps the clients enjoy the session so much more.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well a few people. First off my dad I get my artistic drive from him. He really gave me the tools to learn photography at a young age and pushed me to be better at it. Second my husband, he has from the start been supportive, helpful, listened to my endless rants about equipment and all things industry related. Third I have the best group of photographer friends I could ask for. We call ourselves the “Tribe” and literally discuss everything, everyday. They have been my ear, my extra push, my creative inspiration and so much more. When things were hard they encouraged me to keep at it and that has kept me going.
