We had the good fortune of connecting with Caleb & Adam Watkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caleb & Adam, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Re-defining what success meant to us is key in genuine happiness! That will look different for every person out there. Social media has its strengths but one of its downsides is it often causes the general user to compare their life to others. You should always strive for more but there should also be a level of contentment and pride in where you currently are on your journey!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
we are a family of young(ish lol) black men who were raised in the hair salon and around the Toni&guy culture. Education and community were and still are our lifeline. we all started legally working in the salon around age 14 and now im almost 34! we been thru countless hurdles and changes over the years but our commitment to the industry, our employees, and of course each other is what has carried us thru!… that and certain amount of stubbornness haha Make sure you’re doin this as an actual passion but it will require lots of work for growth and its going to take passion to carry you thru the tough times!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Phoenix/Scottsdale have grown a ton since i grew up here! Downtown Phoenix keeps opening up amazing bars and restaurants! My best friend actually came in town last week and we checked out a new place called Cham Pang Lanes. Great esthetic and vibes! We also got to go to round 1 of the NBA playoffs and watch the Suns woop some ass! When we want a vibe thats a little more bougie we will go to Oldtown Scottsdale. Its like a mini Vegas! theres 20+ clubs/bars all next door to each other so its definitely a sight to see!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our Father Gerry Watkins who got me and my 3 other brothers into the hair business and was a stylist for over 40 yrs. Also Bruno Mascolo, creator of Bed Head and Toni&guy usa is a close family friend of ours who still personally mentors us.
