We had the good fortune of connecting with Kacie Albert and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kacie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the main thing that has brought me success is remaining authentically myself. Although my page is centered around my nail business, it’s still a representation of my life. Whether it’s my art or me ranting about X, Y, & Z on my stories, I make sure to stay true to who I am and not water myself down for anything or anyone and I think that resonates with people.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art style is very eclectic, maximal, and detail oriented which is not for everyone I’ve learned. I started my career in 2020 during the early days of the Pandemic and mostly got into nails so I could do my own. I was tired of the plain, basic nail designs I’d see on pinterest and just knew I could do more. I would say I’ve been an artist my whole life, and have always been a maximalist so it’s natural that it translates into my art. It was definitely difficult building up clientele at first who matched my vision, but when I started posting nails that fit my style more consistently the business came with it. The biggest lessons I’ve learned throughout the process and have to remind myself daily is to have fun and stay true to myself. Being a nail artist is fun because it combines art and science. When I start a new project it feels like a science experiment because most of the time I just wing it and hope for the best. If it doesn’t work out then I’ll find a different way to do things, but if it does then great! As long as I’m having fun and doing what I want to do I’m fulfilled. As far as social media goes, that came very easy and natural to me. I post what makes me happy and if it does well engagement-wise then I know what my audience likes. Everything is a learning curve and this career teaches me new things every single day.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh that’s a hard one. I’m currently located in Bakersfield, CA but Im originally from the Bay Area. I’ve only been here under 2 years so still trying to find my footing. But whenever anyone does visit we have to go to Disneyland. As far as food goes, I will always suggest sushi. The pandemic has definitely turned me into more of a homebody so Im happy to chill at home with my close friends and keep things lowkey.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s definitely multiple people who played a role in helping me get to where I am, but one in particular would have to be my friend Jurnee. She’s ultimately the one who pushed and convinced me to go for a career in the nail business. Without her efforts I think I’d be in a vastly different career. Another person who was influential in helping my find my style is Vivian Xue Rahey of Pamper Nail Gallery. Her maximalist style and detailed portraits intrigued me enough to think I could do it myself, and with my art background already I was able to make it happen for myself. Her large platform is so inspiring.
