We had the good fortune of connecting with Carly Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carly, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Where can I begin? Habits have quite simply, gotten me to places in business. I look at business like being an athlete. In order to keep up with the stamina of building a brand. I think it’s important to keep habits such as daily exercise, good sleep, lots of water, and healthy foods. Oh and a good therapist to support you!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Primary Petals originally started understand another florist. I went ahead and purchased the company in 2015 and continued to solely do wedding and event flowers. In 2017, I wanted more. I wanted the brand to extend farther than one event so I began exploring different avenues of shipping flowers nationwide. I wanted to go up against the big box websites that ship (crappy) bouquets. I wanted to do it better. So I spent over a year researching and engineering how to ship properly, breaking down the COG, etc. It took a lot of time and a ton of patience but I’m so happy with the result of Primary Petals!!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If someone is visiting California, they are probably wanting to experience the outdoors. Because of our year long epic summer weather, we would most likely hit Griffith for a hike, Matcha for tea, and if we’re feeling more mellow, we would schedule appointments for a massage at NOW in Silver Lake. A mix of place, sun, and relaxation!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh man, how can you pick just one person to give credit. I would say the adage: “It Takes a Village!” From books to podcasts to Chloe Jones (shout out to my COO!) to family and friends. It’s a holistic approach to success and it can’t be done without support and assistance to all of the above!
