Meet Channing & Chelsae | Self published authors, Teachers, Mothers and twin sisters

We had the good fortune of connecting with Channing & Chelsae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Channing & Chelsae, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Creating a business and selling was actually the after thought. We had an amazing book idea that we wanted to share with Black families around the world. We created our book, and it became a business.
We took the self publishing route because we wanted to have full autonomy over the art and other details of our project.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We selected Creatives because that is the piece of our identity that we have most recently tapped into. We’ve realized the power that exists within our creative spirits and we’re running with it. We can’t really speak on what sets us apart from others because we don’t compare ourselves to others. We’re in our own lane, we know the value of what we do and the magnitude of our impact and we focus on that. We’ve gotten where we are because we are driven by our motivation, focusing on the mission trusting ourselves. We know what we’re here to do. There are always challenges, we pace ourselves and conquer one thing at a time, never giving energy to the obstacle but putting all of our energy towards creating the desired outcomes.
We’ve learned about ourselves individually as well as collectively. We’ve learned our strengths and areas that we can improve in. We’re learning our pockets and ways we can best contribute to building our brand. We’ve gained confidence in our artistry and we’re constantly evolving and polishing our gifts.
We want the world to know that B is for Black Girl is a “For Us By Us” brand (shout out to F.UB.U. We do what we do for Black Girls and women everywhere. Black women are our brand, Black women are the inspiration, motivation and the backbone of what we do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Beaches and plant based restaurants and food experiences.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We just want to shout out Black women. We love us, Black women are our inspiration, motivation and our biggest supporters.
