We had the good fortune of connecting with Chantel Deniese and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chantel, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I am a wife and a mother of a 16 year old and an 11 year old daughter. The most important thing I have done as a parent, along with my husband, is teaching our girls the value of family. I am originally from Houston, Texas which is where I learned those family values. I have always loved having many family members over during special events and I am passing this tradition on to my girls. Our home is the headquarters for most of the family and friends gatherings for holidays and special events. My mother lives with us and she has helped us build this legacy. We have dinner at the table on a regular basis and take turns cooking the meals. Monday night is our game night and everyone joins in on the fun. I take both girls out individually for what I call “Mother/Daughter time.” This allows us to have deep connected conversations with no interruptions. I believe this will continue on to the next generations. My husband and I go on a date every Friday and our girls get to see that it is important for their parents to continue dating each other. Lastly, one special thing about us is that we are musicians and in 2020 we started playing music for our neighborhood. Our “FamJam” became the hit of our community! We were able to make some new friends and spread a little joy all at the same time.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an entrepreneur, a performer, and a writer. What makes me unique is that I am a person who believes that giving value to others is the most important aspect of everything I do. I am very passionate about inspiring others. My faith drives me to look for ways to celebrate other people with the gifts that God has given me. Hard work has been the key to getting where I am. My biggest challenge has been overcoming a doubtful mindset in order to live out my vision. Along the way, I have learned a key lesson that I have to seize opportunities when they come. The last thing I want to say is that authenticity is important to me, and I have chosen to live my life by being genuine and loyal.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, first of all, I like this question…let me say this, my husband and I have frequented many restaurants during the pandemic. This was very important to us because a lot of restaurants could only do take-out, so we decided that we would go to different ones to support. We would relive the magic by taking our friends on the same restaurant tour. So the first place to start would be my favorite: the Cheesecake Factory at the Americana. It’s like a little Paris to me! Being that we had to get creative with our dates, we would also take our friends for a drive-in movie, a picnic at the park, a drive-thru outdoor concert, eating take-out on the top of the hill while overlooking the city lights, and (last but not least) to Orange County where the party is still going on because everything is still open there!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to Shoutout my friend Shawn LaRe’ Brinkley of “LivingLovedHealing.” She is a family friend and has helped me with my girls in a tremendous way with support, advice, and caring for my girls when I needed it. As a performer, she is at most of my events right on the front row cheering me on. I am a better woman because of her love and support. I also want to Shoutout Julie Landi of “Live Your Vision.” I am a member of her personal development program and she is my mentor. Since being under her mentorship, I have started a business and have been able to develop a clearer focus for my future. And lastly, a Shoutout to my life coach Judy Thureson who keeps me on track in everything that I do. I have much gratitude for these women.
