We had the good fortune of connecting with Dana Gedrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dana, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I love this question because I can tell you a true story of strength. My journey started when I got sick with “Ulcerative Colitis”. First I have to say that this illness is a horrific disease and really affects your whole life. I was very sick and I lost weight down to 75 pounds. Even though I was terribly ill I knew I had to keep working while trying to live a normal life. See, when you’re sick as I, you will be either invisible or will stand out as strange and someone might say something rude like ” You should eat a pizza!”. People can be either very kind or very cruel in this world. This all happened before the Covid-19 Pandemic. People now have more of an understanding of how horrible it can be to live a life while sick. Even though I was sick I needed a job. I saw an ad in the paper for a job at a Salt Cave. I was intrigued  and took a chance and got the job! I am a licensed “Esthetician” and truly love skin care. I was very nervous because I was so insecure about my weight and looks before I started my job at the Salt Cave. Before my illness I was a person who would go after what I wanted and I would always finish what I started. When I became ill you lose hope because your old self feels like it is truly gone. You have to reinvent yourself and become a stronger version of you or you can give in to the illness and become a shell of your former self but I made a decision and I was not going to be a shell of a person and decided to work hard and invent this product ! I have three amazing Sons who I needed to be around for through life itself. Getting the job at the Salt Cave is what started my journey of inventing a natural healing product. I had to work long hours and worked many years there while balancing my health and getting stronger day by day. Once I was strong enough I became a manager and started a “Facial Program”. I also did small and large “Events” and brought companies like Google every year to the Salt Cave. I was blooming again and feeling my power. I believe it was the Himalayan Salt and lots of love and support around me that made me healthy again. The cave was made of pure Himalayan Salt rock. The Salt has 84 trace minerals that are amazing for “Inflammation”. Colitis is a disease that causes Inflammation in the G.I. area. I believe that by breathing in and touching the Himalayan Salt daily for so many years it helped reduce the inflammation in my body. Plus I know the love from my family and friends helped me see a future in this healing mineral. Hope and love is what life is truly about is what I discovered after using the Himalayan Salt while being sick and recovering. One day I was in the Hospital for my stomach and I had a big Hematoma on my arm from the “blood draws”. My co-worker had brought up a Himalayan Salt stone and I picked it up and placed it on my arm. The doctors were going to cut it and drain the Hematoma but the Himalayan Salt reduced the inflammation enough to where that was no longer needed. I was just so tired and sick of being sick!  I had an epiphany. The Himalayan Salt is really an amazing mineral and I needed to make a product so that everyone could use it in a simple way just like I did. So this started the journey of making the “Zen Roller!” I knew this was not going to be easy but what I went through was also not easy! My boyfriend and his Father shaped and designed the Himalayan Salt stone into the proper shape to make the first prototype. I had to reach out to Himalayan Salt distributors around the world and found my crew that helped me make the final “Zen Roller” mostly using a smartphone. The process of all this was so much more than making a product. It was a journey of hope and strength of healing. I wanted to create something that would help people help themselves using this natural mineral that helped me. The saying that “The salt of the earth is True”. When you use our “Zen Roller” and it eases your pain is a joy that our team has done something to help and  heal you! I packaged it with my affirmations and a wooden style heart in our box to inspire you as you open it for more of an experience! This product truly works because it has been used for thousands of years. The majority of people soak in Epsom Salt daily and we wanted to get the Himalyan Salt more known because of its healing effects on the skin. I believe we need to get back to other natural minerals and use more kindness in the world and spread true healing for people around the world. I am very proud of the “Zen Roller” because of the process of how and why it was truly a great journey strength.
