We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Monaco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, why did you pursue a creative career?
I never really confirmed to the norm. In school, in activities, socially. I was always an outlier. So of course I was going to end up with a career that was unconventional, a creative one. Outside the box. Life only happens once, so you have to go after whatever you want to explore. Whatever makes you eager to wake up and experience. It’s your life don’t let anyone else live it for you.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It definitely wasn’t easy. Moving to LA at 18, no connections, no resources. I overcame the challenges with shear belief in myself and out of necessity. I’ve learned that you should just do the right thing and the right things will happen. Also not to let people make you lose your passion to dream. I’d want the world to know that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d take them to Malibu go to the beach stay on the beach. Eat at Nobu.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom for raising me to believe in making dreams a reality, that nothing was off the table, and to do what makes me happy.
