We had the good fortune of connecting with Dawn Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dawn, what do you attribute your success to?
From my experience, being customer obsessed has been the secret sauce behind the success. I’ve built relationships with my customers, and view them as close friends. They are busy mothers, young professionals, daughters, grandmothers, sisters and best friends who all value time and efficiency. Their ages range from 16 years old to mid 70’s who value a healthy lifestyle with a personalized approach to their workout experience from home with Mixiefit. They are incredible people who enjoy having a personal trainer who helps them learn and keep proper form so they know they are doing workouts in a safe way from the comfort of their home. They are the ones who want to live better, get fit and feel healthy for years to come. They desire a more personal connection with their instructor and enjoy meeting new people in class in an environment that is loving, supportive and positive. They are happier, healthier, and stronger because of the joy they’ve experienced while being in a Mixiefit.com class. This is no mistake, no stroke of luck, the secret sauce is being obsessed with your customers knowing their pain points and solving their problems. Members have expressed how they’ve overcome covid depression, felt less stressed, and more connected to people through their Mixiefit experience. I believe that when you are obsessed with your customers and you truly dive in deep to care about them, you will create an incredible business. When you are customer obsessed clients will pay more, retain longer and become evangelists for your brand.

What should our readers know about your business?
MixieFit is not just brand it’s a lifestyle. It was not an easy start and I’ve had several challenges along the way. I was in the middle of opening my own studio location when COVID-19 hit and I had to pivot to completely online model which had been in our roadmap, but we had to accelerate our plans to meet our clients where they were at. In the middle of pivoting our plans my mom was struck by a drunk driver and I had to put my life on pause to take care of my mom who was in the hospital for over 2 months. While my mom was in the hospital rebuilding her strength and re-learning how to walk again, it made me even more passionate about helping people prepare for unexpected events like what I was witnessing with mom. As I watched her try to recover and rehabilitate her entire body again, I became even more passionate about showing people the small steps they can take to build their fitness strength from the ground up. I always knew I loved helping people thrive and become healthy. I have always had a deep passion and love for helping people workout. Now I had come to the realization that everyone is overcoming challenges. My clients overcome challenges everyday such as previous injuries, soreness, fatigue, anxiety, and depression. The endorphins they receive from working out and the challenge of the workouts not only helps people become the best versions of themselves, it helps them calm their minds, focus, and become stronger. The community of people in the MixiFit family all help each other and build each other up because you never know the challenges each person is overcoming.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you’re coming from LAX airport, the first stop is always In-n-out. Then to work it off, I would suggest going on a hike to enjoy some waterfalls at Paradise Falls Trailhead in Thousand Oaks. Another fun outdoor experience close by would be at The Malibu Cafe. In the summer they have live music, oversized games and a cute lake you can pedal boat on with a friend. Another great spot I love to spend time at, especially in the summer is Newport Beach. The waves are great for surfing and boogie boarding. It’s also fun to ride bikes or skate down the boardwalk. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My junior year speech and debate teacher Mrs. Keaky who believed in me and saw my potential. As a kid I moved a lot which meant going to a lot of different schools. Mrs. Keaky knew I was new at that particular school and behind in my studies from moving so much. She was the first person who believed in me and saw more in me than I saw in myself. She never gave up on me and never gave up on mentoring me and giving me extra time after class. Mrs. Keaky changed my life in 11th grade and I will never forget her. I will never forget the hand written note she gave me when I left that school and the feeling I felt while walking off that campus that I knew I had to make something of myself to make Mrs. Keaky proud. We all have those people in our lives that believed in us and changed our trajectories. That is how I feel about my clients. If I believe in them like Mrs. Keaky believed in me I can change their lives and help them.
