We had the good fortune of connecting with ebed moreno and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ebed, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Its honestly the only dream i have the privilege of chasing and personally itd be the coolest job to ever have.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is Ebed Moreno. I started “bed” as a bedroom project around 2015. I was really into the socal indie/surf rock bands like Beach Goons, Jurassic Shark, and Playing Tourist Forever. After attending my first show in the middle of the socal desert in Palmdale, i knew making and performing music was what i needed to do. I started out using my sisters old macbook to mess around on garageband and make short instrumentals and post them soundcloud mainly and id always let my friends know through instagram. Shortly after that i was asked to play an art show by my friends who liked my stuff. i wasnt able to form a band in time so i ended up just playing along to a backing track on guitar. after that, i started getting asked to do more shows so i formed a band and the rest is history. I honestly couldn’t tell you what it might be that sets us apart from other bands, but i just love that we’re growing as a band and we appreciate anyone that takes a liking to our music and our performances. We definitely hit a spike when Beach Goons asked to go on tour with them and had us open for them at sold out show at the Fonda Theatre in LA, and ever since then, we’ve been working hard to keep that momentum going. Weve since then released an album and even had a packed album release show for it. Made new merch that people loved, and started headlining more shows. We even sold out a show recently with our friends in Wayword(@wayword.ca). This hardcore hobby/career/life isnt easy, but I like to think of challenges as exactly that, challenges. I feel its wasted potential to fold to an issue rather than try your hardest to take it on even if you dont think youll win, because theres always a chance you might win and a certainty that youll learn from it. We’ve definitely learned alot about being musicians and how that could affect relationships, work, and everyday life but I dont imagine its easy chasing any dream. We’re just 4 kids with instruments and a shared dream.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Palmdale but honestly it sucks and i don’t imagine anyone ever taking a vacation here but if you ever find yourself stuck here, definitely hit Olga’s Fresh Kitchen. Get the Socal Wrap on a basil wrap and their Green Ginger Kale smoothie. Also Transplants brewery sells the best s’more cookie you’ll ever have in your life.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Ebed Moreno, Martha Leon, Joel Lazcano, Axel Alba, Nathan Gameros, Beach Goons.
