We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Banks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erika, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I have a few habits that have helped me succeed, Number One is Getting Up Early. Slow feet don’t eat, the early bird gets the worm two of many says I have lived by over the years. Being slothful and lazy has never elevated anyone in life. You have to get up and spend time with God, and look ahead of the day; look at your schedule and see what the day Intel’s. Set your intentions for the day, what will today bring how much closer are you to a goal. Number two is pre-planning, and having a calendar. Everything has to be on calendar, planning my days, my weeks down to every minute. It keeps me task and holds me accountable. Being a Wife, and a mother of four, Business Owner my life HAS to be planned,
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have expanded my business “Gorgeous Esthetics” since we’ve last spoken. I have added body contouring to the menu for my business and has been a top favorite of my clients. I have learned many lessons since we’ve last spoken and that is to just always do more research on any and everything that you touch. Im still overcoming challenges right now in my business and honestly I stay deep in the word of God and it really carries me, and keeps me. I always promote, promote, no matter what I always keep business cards on me I’ve ran into so many people that didn’t have social media accounts or their phone was dead. My business cards came in handy, I keep them in every purse, every wallet, in my car, my husbands car & wallets my mom has them, my children even have them. Another thing I’ve done is getting the thickest card so that way it can bend and if they keep in their pockets they won’t ever forget my card they’ll always remember how thick it is.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first place we are hitting is a Seafood restaurant probably go to ‘The Lobster” in Santa Monica and have lunch and get a window seat and talk about life, what’s been going on with her and if there’s anything she’s been wanting to share with me. Next we would hit the spa “Glen Ivy” or “Burke Williams” depending on how she’s feeling, and just hang out and rest (me and all my friends VERY busy life’s so nobody is Turing down a spa trip. The next day we would probably go to Newport Beach and get a cabana and hang out at the pool order some food, & mock tails and enjoy the sun and conversation. Next day we can go parasailing or jet skiing (everybody knows I can’t swim, but I’m still gonna enjoy my activity..lol). We would definitely have to catch some live music maybe a r&b night at a open mic event we loveeeee music, we would vibe the night away.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a Shoutout to my Heavenly Father God he has made everything possible in my life, I will always sing praises to him before all. My loving husband Derrick who has held me accountable, and has walked with me through every step of my adult life. Marriage, Parenthood, Spirituality, Finding Myself, Beauty School he has literally been my rock through out it all, and Im so grateful and thankful for my life partner. My amazing mother who has always been right by my side even if she didn’t agree with what I was doing she never turned her back on me. Thank you mom for never taking your foot off my neck growing up, it made me the responsible amazing woman I am today. My amazing four daughters you guys are the reason! My amazing spiritual mother Prophetess Dr. Taryn Tarver, this woman came into my life when it was in shreds and I have grown so much, how to become a business woman, she’s taught me how to love like God loves, how to walk in love, how to not be fearful, to be Bold & fearless, she literally saved my marriage and Im forever grateful.
