We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Milner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I launched “Celebration Out The Box,” I did so while experiencing much anxiety and fear of failure. I see myself as a person of various interests and passions. Sometimes that can be viewed as a bit scattered, but I’m just a serial entrepreneur driven by my dreams and visions. I realized that my anxieties were stemming from me being overly concerned about what people thought of me launching yet another venture. The Event Setup & Hospitality industry is something I’ve had my hands in for several years now, and it’s something I love doing. I prayed my way through these emotions, and even though I couldn’t visualize every step, God said, “Go for it, and I will lead the way. This is for you!” I’ve always had a heart for serving people and making them feel appreciated. My passion for hospitality is the prevailing purpose behind ‘Celebration Out The Box’… to serve and create a unique experience for our clients to display a visual representation of appreciation for the people they care about.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
‘Celebration Out The Box’ was created out of a passion for celebrating and serving others. Putting the required time and energy into it was the challenging part in the beginning. Prior to the onset of a national pandemic, I was working in the Hospitality Industry for several years. When restaurants and bars closed, I went home to visit family. I spent two months between Indianapolis, IN and Cincinnati, OH helping my family out wherever I could. I used this opportunity to serve my family by planning events, such as date nights, birthday parties, a Mother’s Day event, and creating homeschool activities for my nieces to enjoy. I shared these events on social media, and my followers encouraged me to try it as a business venture. The national ‘lockdown’ sparked the idea to start ‘Celebration In A Box’. With considerations to Covid-19 safety precautions, ‘Celebration In A Box’ was a pre-packaged party experience, that included all supplies and instructions on how to set up your own event. When I returned to LA, I then launched ‘Celebration Out The Box’ whereby I personally provide full set-up services. I’ve now added a full service catering experience to my services. My greatest challenge has certainly been starting and maintaining a new hospitality business during a pandemic. Every dollar I spend, I pray I get it back, and I always do. God shows up every time. I’m operating in faith.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If LA were completely reopened, I would take my friend to the Malibu Wine Safari, since we love to “wine out” and take in a beautiful ambiance. I would also suggest girls night out to restaurants such as Castaway, Openaire, Catch LA and Ocean Prime. If parties were still happing, “Brunch2Bomb” would be the place to be on Sunday Funday and of course we would be relaxing at some of the rooftop pools such as, Waldorf Astoria, Mondrian and the SLS. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my sister, Elisha Joy Hill for her encouragement, joyful heart, and amazing children. She has helped me tremendously throughout this journey and creating activities and events for my nieces is what inspired the inception of this idea.
