We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Person and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My end goal is to create an avenue for people to find success and leave a legacy of their own.
By the end of my career, I will have used my position as both an intrapreneur and an entrepreneur to evoke change that forces equality and cultivates opportunities for people of color to pursue their career goals without discrimination. The ConnectEO network will be filled with like-minded, successful, professionals who believe in the mission to collectively grow their businesses in a strategic and meaningful way.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
ConnectEO is a digital platform that helps entrepreneurs of color collaborate to build strategic partnerships, promote their services, and locate essential resources – all to collectively grow their businesses. Our mission is to enable 1 Million entrepreneurs of color to build sustained businesses by 2023. We specialize in building a vetted community of collaborative entrepreneurs and creating impactful and educational content to support entrepreneurs. We are more than a brand; we are a movement. We are really succeeding at our core mission and are most proud of the connections we’ve made as a result of our network and our events. We have two main events: A SPACE TO WIN™ which highlights two to three dynamic entrepreneurs creating their own blueprint. Its purpose is to show the importance of creating a table and inviting others to sit at that table; and The LEAP™ which highlights entrepreneurs who have taken the leap from full- time employment to full-time entrepreneurship. It also includes educational and interactive workshops to help entrepreneurs with their business. Both events really embrace the spirit of collaboration and connection. The connections that have come from these events have resulted in new business ventures and/or great advice shared to help another entrepreneur. It’s so important that we support each other. When one wins, we all win!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love this question because everyone who knows me know I love to host. Assuming we are in a better place and have the virus under control, I would first take my special guest to participate in a fun but challenging Cuerpaso workout, led by celebrity trainer Tadeo Arnold, on the beach for some cardio followed by lunch at My Two Cents in Culver City – they have amazing service and treat their customers like family. Later that evening we would have dinner at one of my favorite sushi spots, Sugar Fish, then hit the dance floor at La Descarga on Western. The following day, we would take a short road trip to Ojai and spend a few days at Ojai Valley Inn for yoga under the stars, wine tasting, hiking and a spa day. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My close friends and family deserve credit and recognition in my journey. Our personal network determines our level of success and I have been fortunate enough to have a network of friends who are supportive of my dreams and ambitions. Similar to my personal network, ConnectEO democratizes access to a valued network of founders who genuinely want to support and see others succeed.
