We had the good fortune of connecting with Fabi Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fabi, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Freedom. Plain and simple. I need freedom in all aspects of my life. Considering I knew my career would take a big space in my life, I needed to do something where I could have freedom.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create art on hair. I love making shapes with hair. I love seeing contrast and shading. I love design. Reading and learning about design has strengthened my abilities that I use in my work. Practicing and creating helped get to the level of craftsmanship I produce everyday. I’m definitely a forever student and will always love to continue to grow. The industry is always changing and keeping me on my toes. It hasn’t been an easy road but it’s definitely been a fun one. I’m grateful for every experience and ready for more.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots in Long Beach…we gottta start with Rose Park coffee, coffee cup cafe, the art theatre, Relics, plantitas, AndThenLB, THAI DISTRICT(my fave), Hug Life, Blue Bird Sushi and take a drive down Ocean/hang out at the bluff.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes out to my family and close friends. I wouldn’t be anywhere without the people in my life that love me. Also, dogs. Dogs are the most amazing creatures on the planet and I love them all.
