We had the good fortune of connecting with Favor Valentine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Favor, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When I arrived to Los Angeles I knew that $400 would not go very far so I started singing at the airport for meals. I wasn’t sure if this would work, but people in Los Angeles responded to me with excellent vibes. Not only would people give me cash, but the compliments came rolling in. It made me feel great! I started looking on Craigslist every day before Craigslist went sour. I responded to an ad for a Hispanic Label based in LA. Not only did they fall in love with my music… they took me in as if I was one of their own. I now had a place to live, sleep, eat, and work… the best part. They got me into the studio immediately and some of my best work to date was with this label. To put the icing on the cake, they placed me on a college tour and I haven’t looked back since..
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would have say it’s the passion for my art, and my ability to engage with my audience through my energy. I would say that I’m most proud about being able to travel the world internationally, sharing my gift through song. If I would have to say what got me to this point, it was knowing that I was born to do this, and I felt it from every fiber of my being. It wasn’t easy many doors were closed in my face, however I refused to let them write my story. And I want the world to know, that I leave a piece of my heart on the stage every time I perform and that’s why I’m F.A.V.O.R (forever achieving victory over resistance.)
My new single “the one you love” is out now on all streaming platforms.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely have to say Los Angeles, is extremely fun, and city walk is one of my favorite spots to hang out with friends, along with one of my favorite Thai restaurants in North Hollywood and completing our night with one of Hollywood hottest night clubs!!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All artists from anywhere in the world are inspired by something or in my case… somebody… my mother. My mom has been sick throughout a lot of my life and it breaks my heart. According to my mother, I was practically singing in the crib. As I got older, my mom introduced me to music. Now I’m a solo artist on my way up, and I’m currently visiting South Carolina, spending time with my family during this current pandemic. However going back to Los Angeles, is still a priority and as this pandemic lightens up I’ll be on my way.
