We had the good fortune of connecting with Federica Beni and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Federica, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Surely the passion combined with a complete dedication to my work and to my clients and the great respect I have for all the vendors that support me in this path.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have started the business of destination event planner and designer by chance, after years of business consultancy in the process management field. Using the English language had always been one of my dreams and I realized that I could put my process management skills at the service of all international couples who were choosing Italy as their destination for their big day. I started creating editorials and working with international vendors, photographes, bridal designers, calligraphers, etc, so to make my brand visible on the international markets. Little by little I got passionate for the design aspects of my business, made of cohesion, combination of colours, textures, styles, elements, and my skills grew up during the years to make me be what I am today. My research process never ends actually since there is always something new to discover, new brands to work with, new designs to experiment. The very beginning was not easy, like for everyone I think. Nobody knows you, you have to build up a business from the very beginning and most of all you have to build your reputation not only in terms of design but also in terms of planning, organization and coordination. The way to make my business successful were my passion for the creative aspects of my work, the complete dedication to my clients and to each project I realized, the neverending curiosity to discover new vendors, new locations to give my clients the best experiences in their lives, The lesson I learned is that every successful work needs to be run with lots of humanity, humility, respect and passion. My message to the world and to the new planners and designers could be “Always be true to yourself and to your identity and never settle to compromises if you really love this work and believe in your potential!”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We have so many places in Italy that could be worth a visit. I would start from the Amalfi Coast, an area which I adore especially because I adore the seaside and landscapes are breathtaking over there. Everywhere you go, from Ravello to Positano, Amalfi, Praiano is worth a visit, to enjoy the foods and the warmth of the local people. Then I would move to Sicily, another region that I love, a bit wild for some reasons but with hundreds of spectacuar places to visit, from Ragusa Ibla, to Siracusa, to Erice and Palermo with Scopello near by. For sea lovers like me, a cruise to the Eolie Island could be the top, immersed in a unpolluted nature with their amazing clear waters and beautiful tiny villages.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
No one in particular. All the clients that put their trust in me in the past and today are the key to my success, all the vendors that have been by my side during these years have contributed to my success. A special thanks goes to all the professionals I met on my path that have enriched me with their vision, their values.
