We had the good fortune of connecting with Hadja yebhe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hadja yebhe, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I personally think life is all about taking risks. You’ll never know if something has a positive or a negative outcome if you don’t take that chance . When I was about 16 years old, I threw a major house party. People tried to discourage me about the location and the overall outcome of the party but I didn’t let that stop me. I took the risk and actually ended up having a successful event. Taking such a big leap of faith gave me the courage to continue hosting parties which eventually evolved into a partnership with local venues by the time I was 18 years old. This basically set the tone. After a traumatic moment when I was 19 years old, I took another risk and moved from Columbus , Ohio to Los Angeles, California by myself. I can honestly say that was the best decision of my life. Making this big change has shaped me into the person the I am today.
Since moving to LA, my journey has been nothing short of courageous. The reason why I have a production company right now is because, I took the resk of skipping class and at the moment I didn’t even know what a PA was Nor who Lil Uzi but I just had faith and worked extremely hard that day. This year marks my five year anniversary of my move to LA. I now hold a bachelor’s degree in Entertainment Business from the LA Film School, I run my own production company (BHE Media), signed to MMG and I am very much in love with myself. I have been able to build a reputation as a trustworthy and hard working businesswoman in the industry. I advise everybody to bet on themselves and take a leap of faith to purse their dreams.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Covid-19 pandemic inspired me to take my entrepreneurial spirit to another level. I started my very own production company called- BHE MEDIA. I have been in the film industry for about five years now and I’m extremely grateful for my growth. BHE media is full service production and management company, with diverse individuals who work together to create a meaningful services that exceed your expectations.
In the beginning, I had no mentors so I made some minor mistakes. As time progressed, I’ve managed to find a tribe who doesn’t penalize but embraces my flaws while also teaching me how to become a better producer, director and overall well-rounded woman.
I am a female who demands respect when I am all set. However, I am extremely nice and aways bring high, positive attitude . I believer that my appreciation for everyone involved with a project is what sets me apart from most in my industry.I have learned how to get work done without devaluing my team.
I want the world to know that this little girl from Guinea Conakry is here to put on for African and I will bring wealth and business back to our country.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First thing on the itinerary would be moonshadows in Malibu. This is a restaurant that sits by the ocean and one of my absolute favorites. After that I would suggest a Peaceful drive down Beverly Hills to enjoy the aesthetic of the city. To finish out I would plan a trip to Catalina Island, which is about a two hour boat ride. There we will partake in activities like zip lining, scuba diving and enjoying lunch by the beach. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout out to Alex and every person who gave me a place to lay my head while I was homeless.
To Jamar Hawkins, for seeing potential in me and putting me on every job opportunity he could.
To the Los Angeles film school for giving me a reason to move to California and teaching me things that I use in my every day life.
Last but not least to Afrikka and every person who has shared their resources and added to the success woman I am today!!
