We had the good fortune of connecting with Helena Karadimos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Helena, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I think it’s our human instinct that continues to help guide us through our journey. If you can’t trust your instinct, our next best mechanism is our passion and/or drive. If either one hasn’t burnt out and you have a little more fight in you, then I say, keep on punishing until you get your big break. I mean, who’s to say when it’s time to give up, for those who have given up will never know if they could have reached their goals.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think we all have a special something that sets us apart from one another. As a filmmaker I pay close attention to detail. I am very particular in the style that I want to shoot in and set up. There is almost a reason for everything that is in a scene, from the angle, sound, camera movement, lighting, right down to performance. I’ve worked day and night trying to come up with new content to put out. Being a filmmaker is not easy but the end results make worth while. I’m still overcoming challenges and I guess you just have to be creative in how you overcome them by being open to trying new things, while setting no boundaries or limits. It’s a lonely road, but you get to meet some really cool people along the way.
I suppose my message to the world is, that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. It may sound totally cliche but, I say that because we’ve shot a series that is being pitched, created on zero budget. We made something out of nothing so I say, anything is possible if you’re willing to put in the work.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start them off by visiting the Hollywood cemetery to watch a movie. Then I would / take them to universal studios for a tour or paramount studios. Following that would be a drive down to Santa Barbara on preferably a Friday, capped off by a weekend at Big Bear. Circling back to Hollywood, in regards to cuisines, we’d spend some time in Thai town Hollywood for some of the best curry in town. Pailin Thai Cuisine restaurant is a personal favorite among the many places to enjoy. Lastly, let’s not forget a nice walk at Griffith park in between the time!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First shoutout goes to my mother, without her I wouldn’t be here. Her support and encouragement is unmatched. She has been with me on this journey since the very beginning, from getting on the plane and moving across the world to following my dreams.

I would also want to give a big thank you/shoutout to Rafael Cabrera for trusting me with this project 7eventh Day. It was a pleasure working alongside him.

My final and not least shout out/thanks would be to Casey Oberhansl. He believed in my vision and was apart of this journey, through the ups and downs. He would literally do just about anything just to get the shot so he deserves recognition.
