We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie & Kiraleigh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie & Kiraleigh, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
We’re going to go ahead and say the short answer here is DON’T GIVE UP! If it’s something that you are truly passionate about and that brings you joy, always keep going! But really, we’d be lying if we said that giving up hadn’t crossed our minds at one time. Many times, actually! When we first started DJing and making music, we went all in and worked hard, but we gave ourselves these unrealistic timelines and goals we thought would SURELY lead us down a road to success. So every time we hit an obstacle or experienced rejection, we would think that was the end because we weren’t “on schedule” or “making progress.” And looking back now, we realize we hardly even knew what we were doing at that time! Some of the biggest lessons we’ve learned are to have patience, enjoy the journey and accept that failure will only help us grow and improve. This last year was actually great for providing us with some perspective. In the past, we might have been bummed out that we weren’t playing better time slots or bigger stages and let those feelings put a negative cast on an experience that otherwise could have been a lot of fun. But not being able to play shows at all really made us realize how silly that was! It’s definitely helped us get back in touch with what we ultimately love: playing great music together!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Something that sets us apart is that we were friends for many years before we ever started DJing and producing together. We were just crazy raver kids who worked retail together and bonded over our impressive clothes-folding and beer-drinking abilities! This has obviously translated into the No Pants Party project. We want everyone around us to have a great time, party their pants off, and not take things too seriously! Unfortunately, this sometimes creates the challenge of other people not taking *us* seriously. So no, getting to where we are has not been easy! But we realized all we can do is keep hustling and let our work speak for itself. We’ve learned that we have to keep believing in our vision, even if some people don’t understand it at first.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, normally we’d spend the week checking out lots of happy hours, brunches and rooftop bars, going to shows, and maybe even doing a day where we get to feel like kids again at Universal or Disney, but most things in Los Angeles are shut down so we’d have to get a little creative! We’d definitely take advantage of our amazing weather here and focus on outdoor activities for now. When visiting Southern California, you have to hit the beach at least once! For a more touristy (or grimy haha!) vibe and great people watching, we’d go to Venice Beach. But if we’re keeping it chill, we’d head to Dockweiler in Playa Del Rey. We used to love using the fire pits there and we hope they bring them back once the COVID-19 situation improves! A picnic at Lake Hollywood Park is always fun, where you can eat and hang out right beneath the Hollywood sign. We’ve loved getting takeout snacks and cocktails from Electric Owl over the last few months, and it’s a fantastic brunch and happy hour spot for whenever we have outdoor dining open again! There’s tons of great hiking in the LA area and if our friend was up for some physical activity we’d take them to Altadena to do Echo Mountain or, for even more of a challenge, continue up to Inspiration Point. The view is awesome on a clear day and you can check out the ruins of a resort and railroad from the early 1900s on the way! On the rare occasion it’s too chilly for any of that, a drive in movie would be our next move. There are a few open in town right now but our favorite is Mission Tiki in Montclair, which is totally worth the trek! And of course, we love spontaneous Vegas trips so if all else fails we’d just take a quick road trip out there! Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We wouldn’t be anywhere without all the people around us! Our friends and fans who support our ideas and our music, and who come to our shows or tune in to our livestreams. They deserve a ton of credit for their positive energy that inspires us to keep grinding! Our significant others, Eric and Kienan, also deserve a shoutout; they definitely don’t get enough recognition for their constant encouragement! We also have to include our manager, Jared. He reached out to us when we were still trying to navigate the industry on our own and has helped give us a greater sense of confidence. He truly believes in us, and for that we are grateful!
