We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamila Choyce and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamila, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Modeling is hardwork, but it is very rewarding. . The photoshoots, fashion shows, fittings, are grueling. Walking in 3″ to 5″ heels can be painful and dangerous. Walking on and off the runway in heels is not easy. And please do not slip and fall down! Beauty starts internally. Eating healthy, drinking gallons of water per day, and getting the proper sleep and exercise is imperative.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a transplant from Northern California, Los Angeles is the place to thrive. As a Plus Size Model/Actor, and Entrepreneur Los Angeles is the best place to integrate and assimilate with people in the fashion and entertainment industry. Los Angeles is one of the most beloved cities around the world. There is so much to do, and so little time. My first stop would be Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. It is a most! My favorite location is the one on Manchester in South Los Angeles. You never know which celebrity is their enjoying a meal such as Sherrie Shephard and Loretta Devine to name a few. As a student at Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), I worked in the Los Angeles Garment District. The garment district is one of my favorite places to shop for fabric, makeup, accessories, and everything else! Although, they are currently closed due to COVID 19, The “Grammy Museum” is a must. I have always wanted to witness the Whitney Houston Exhibit. The exhibit debuted at the GRAMMY Museum L.A. Live on August 1, 2012, and it still going strong. The exhibit is a tribute to her legacy and contribution to a vocalist who sung every song from the depth her soul. Of course the infamous Hollywood Walk of Frame, the TCL Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, and the Hollywood sign are just a few landmarks. The Pie Hole is one of my favorites for a quick lunch and awesome deserts. Southern California is know for our beaches. My favorite is Manhattan Beach, but a drive along the Pacific Coast Highway stopping in Malibu for dinner, Ventura Beach and thrift store shopping, and spending time in Santa Barbara would be a dream road trip.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I honestly have to credit my success thus far is prayer & meditation. I have gotten so many ideals threw prayer and meditation. In addition, sitting quietly is a great way to manifest creativity
