We had the good fortune of connecting with Janelle Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janelle, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I feel like this is a question that everyone can relate to. Some may or may not know, that on top of selling real estate, I have other hats that I wear, mother, partner, yoga teacher, full-time college student, amongst a few other I probably forgot to list. With all of that being said, the first step to balance is start from the core and work your way out. What I mean by that, is carve out some time for yourself, even if you have to wake up at 4AM, to exercise or meditate. I believe when you feel good about yourself, you’re able to show up in the other areas in your life.

Boundaries are very important, when everybody is pulling you in different ways, you have to know what your limit is and how to say no.

Balance is a tough concept, mentally and physically, as something very small can throw it off. It is knowing what each or your duties weigh and sometimes pulling back when feeling unbalanced.

My balance is getting there, just like anything else, it’s a give and take, working with what I have, as I continuously work towards where I see my future is.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Before selling Real Estate, I taught yoga for 12 years. And in my years leading up to making the decision to sell real estate I have been fortunate to have travelled and live in different parts of our country, as well as, Europe. I feel like my experiences with vast amount of different people and lifestyles, combined with a very down to earth, honest and open-mindedness approach to business is my strength.

To be where I am today, was baby steps, but I always, push myself to learn more and grow. Getting my foot in the door in a highly-competitive market, is the most difficult step. And when I say difficult, it’s the one that doesn’t happen overnight, or quickly. It’s always about finding ways, being resourceful and asking questions, for me.

The core of the brand I am building in my name is integrity, honesty and hard-work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
See I am really into fitness… so I would definitely recommend different places to practice yoga, do Pilates or any type of fun workout. Places I love in LA are Hot 8 Yoga, TruFusion and Club Lagree!!

I love Malibu, the vibe of the ocean breeze and good food. I wouldrecommend Nobu, Mastros and a long time favorite of mine, Mr. Chow.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family. They have supported and encourage me every step of my life.
