We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayden T. Gillespie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jayden, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I really couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Filmmaking gives me so much life and the fact that I can make a career out of something that fills me with immense joy is merely a bonus.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an independent filmmaker there are a lot of roadblocks that come with bringing a project together. Time, budget, and recourses are limited however the one thing we as artists have at our disposal at all times is passion. It is passion and the dedication that comes with it that makes the difficulties that come with filmmaking minor relative to the payoff that comes from watching a completed project.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend and they were staying with me in Los Angeles for a weekend first, we’d have to hit up a Korean BBQ spot in Koreatown. I know a spot that will rock their tastebuds. After we would head over to the Griffith Observatory for the best view of Los Angeles, especially at night. The next day we would go to beach. The nicest beach in LA County is definitely Paradise Cove in Malibu. To keep the outdoor theme going later we could hike Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area it also has some breathtaking views. Its not to far from Culver City which has an amazing chicken spot called Honey’s Kettle Fried Chicken. We’d probably be exhausted from all that outdoor activity so what better way to unwind then watching a flick at one of the many luxury movie theaters that Los Angeles has to offer.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shoutout all the amazing people I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with. Thank you all!
