We had the good fortune of connecting with Jean-Pierre Giagnoli and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jean-Pierre, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that risk is very important when it comes to anything in life. It plays a huge role in my life. I worked a job that I ended up hating for 10 years and I did not take a lot of risks while at the job or even outside of the job. I finally got to a breaking point where I needed to go after what I wanted in life. I turned in my two week notice and just went after my dreams that I really neglected for the 10 years I worked there. I had nothing lined up other than a few gigs and possible recall for some big work. After two another two weeks of not working I got the call to return to working as a featured actor on Ford vs Ferrari for another month and a half and I had some DJ gigs on the side too. It caused problems with my marriage and finances but I was proud to say that I was able to survive and I took a huge risk quitting a job that offered hours and benefits but I needed to and it was the best decision I ever made in my life. I have never gone back to working a normal day job and gotten so many opportunities that I never thought were possible before I took the biggest risk of my life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I do so much and that really allows me to stand out from others. Actor, Rapper, Comedian, Impressionist, DJ, Host, MC, Parapsychologist. Some are not even connected to entertainment but still get me a lot of attention. I am most proud that I have never given up on my dreams even when I went through the hardest times in my life. I continue moving forward and getting opportunities. I am most excited about the current wave of music I am working on, not only on my own but with others. I have to of my own albums on the way and all my skills behind and on the mic are helping make other people’s projects come to life. It is really important to me to inspire people to go after their dreams and people tell me I am doing that by how I live life now. The most important lessons I have learned especially in entertainment is just to keep your head down and keep moving. We are all on our own track and time, age and other factors don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. We get bogged down by those thoughts. One opportunity leaves us to go after others instead of being the end of something it is a chance for a new beginning. Everything I am is me. It comes from my soul. I write a joke or I make a song that is real. I know what my destiny is and it comes out in everything I do. I am a man of extreme passion and I know it shows in what I do.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was born in Long Beach, CA and I have a soft spot for it. One place I would take someone is Queen Mary/ Shoreline because I have lots of fond memories growing up there. I love nature so the ocean and mountains would be some of the major places to take someone. Venice beach, hiking in the Angeles national forest and even Malibu for starters. The rest is hard to choose because LA has so much to offer just downtown at night and stop at some of the restaurants, bars or even theaters. The arts are alive in downtown.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife has been by my side through it all and her love and support has meant everything to me same goes for my father Oscar Rospide and my in laws Osmine Rivera, Mitzi Olmos, Audrey Nelson, and Allie Lee. Others who have been there for me are like family and have done so much for me. Special thanks to German Sanchez, Gloria Wong, Eddie Banuelos, Roxanne Johnson, Frankie Ontiveros, Chris, Dom, and Linda Gallardo.
