We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Joan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk to me as an act of bravery, courage and faith. I think for most it’s easy to play it safe and make only logical decisions. That too is important, but the element of listening to your intuition and going against the grain by taking a risk, is what separates “good” from “great”. Life is unpredictable and full of unknowns and taking a risk is betting on yourself. Now sometimes these risks don’t turn out the way we had hoped, but the lesson in that is also a gift. My whole life and career has been laid on taking risks and following my gut instinct. It has gotten me in interesting situations, but ultimately has led me to be right where I am. Living my life’s purpose. I took a risk, bet on myself and am sharing my story with the world.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art ranges from poetry, acting to mixed media painting. The list goes on as anything and any moment can be that of “art”. Art to me is a feeling, and intention. An honest, raw and deep expression. It is truth. My life has been one challenge after another. My biggest artistic accomplishment, my first baby I would say is my short film “gLOVEs”. It was my first project I Produced & starred as the Lead. It is the brainchild between me and my dear friend and genius talent of a Director Hugo Valentine. We filmed in France almost every day and night for a month. We turned my poem in a film and that is something I haven’t see anyone else do. To me it is timeless and something I am so grateful and honored to have been able to be apart of creating.
