We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Middleton & Dariel Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica & Dariel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As a creative couple we have worked together on projects in the past. So, we have proven to ourselves that we work together well as a team and it made sense to turn this into something much bigger. With the push of a friend we decided to apply for our LLC and we haven’t looked back since. Our mission is to uplift, educate and inspire our community to follow their dreams!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Together our name is Greenhouse Media Co. We are a new business so we have a lot of upcoming challenges and lessons on the way. Collectively, we have over a decade of creative experience. Greenhouse Media Co. is a team of creative specialists who work together to elevate businesses by sharing their stories through video production, brand photography, and marketing strategies. Although we are just getting started, it has not been easy but it’s been fun! Before we could tell everyone about us and what we have to offer, we had to invest in our business. Investing in our business took a lot of time, effort and financial expenses to get where we are now. By investing in ourselves, we want to show our clients that we will also be invested in them. We want to the world to know that we take pride in our work. Providing a fun and professional experience with top notch quality in everything we do from small to large projects. The last thing we want to tell the world is we want to inspire people to pursue life how they want it to be!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since we both enjoy food and drinks, we would take our friends to two different locations. First, we would walk down the oceanfront strip in Virginia Beach, VA to experience the different bars and restaurants. One of our favorite restaurants to frequent is Pelon’s Baja Grill. Next, we would travel about 25 minutes to downtown Norfolk on Granby street to visit not only bars, but clubs where you can dance like California Burrito AKA “The Back”. Also, nearby we would visit our favorite rooftop restaurant, The Grain, where we can listen to live music with a drink or two. In Norfolk there is also the Chrysler Museum of Art where we can see ancient to contemporary art. During this week long trip, we can introduce our friends to different shops and brunch spots in the Hampton Roads area. Lastly, we would take them to entertainment parks such as Busch Gardens, Kings Dominion, or the newly opened Apex Entertainment.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We first want to give a shoutout to Marie Depedro for igniting the spark for us to start our business. We were talking about starting a business together before, but she gave us that extra push to start immediately. Also, we would like to shoutout our parents for believing in what we want to accomplish together as business partners and a couple. Additionally, our many mentors deserve a huge thank you for educating us in not only business, entrepreneurship, and strategy but in life. Lastly, we want to shoutout our friends who are more like family for supporting us and understanding what it takes to be successful in the things we want to pursue.
