We had the good fortune of connecting with Jorney Leysner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jorney, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
Choosing for safety and go into corporate life, or choose to follow my heart and make it in the music industry was definitely the hardest decision to make for me.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a dj and a producer. I have been in the scene for about 6 years now, and i have seen alot already. I tried different styles in the dance genre, but i got the most succes with all my upcoming tracks in the deep/melodic house genre! What really sets me apart in deep house is that i try to combine both deep house and melodic house in one new genre with a little bit of progressive house in it too. I was struggling alot in my first years to get stuff signed to labels, but my music just wasn’t good and original enough. At the end of 2020 when covid-19 came around i signed my first track that got over 250.000 streams in just 2 months, and from there it only went up. I got supported by alot of artist and labels last year. Now im taking a break from releasing to really define my sound. I got 2 tracks signed to a big and well known dj his label and there are more labels who are interested in my new sound. Covid is slowly fading away and me and my team are working on shows along side my releases. 2021 and 2022 will be the best years of my career so far and im super excited. My biggest advise to starting artists is never give up! it might sound cheezy, but in the end you will find your sound and you will get signed. Stay creative and keep on making tracks and you will 100% get there in the future.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in a small village in the Netherland, but there is actually quite some nice spots to hang out over here. First off i would take them to the woods for a nice relaxing walk as i like to do that myself to. Its good to be in the nature and just clear your mind from the busy artist life. I would also take them to the local skate park where you can find me alot. Just hanging out with friends, having a good time at the park and just enjoy life while you can. And i would definitely take them to the local ice cream shop for the BEST ice cream!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes out to my grandpa for showing me all the beautiful things in the music industry. Seeing him as happy as he is while making music, sparked the fire inside me to follow my dreams and follow his footsteps to making it in the music industry. Grandpa shoutout to you!
