Meet Josh Schneider | Tattoo Artist & Painter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Schneider and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I had always wanted to pursue a career based in illustration since I was a kid. Originally it was comics, then medical illustration & finally shifted into tattooing after I received my 1st one on my 18th birthday. That day changed everything for me as an artist. This was the thing I had been looking for

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well, I’m 24 years into my career as a tattoo artist. At this point most people come to me for Japanese style work, or my darker style traditional work. I still paint & create new designs constantly, & folks seem to want something authentic, that they can’t get anywhere else. Ultimately my clients happiness is top priority, & I’m fortunate to have cultivated a lot of relationships in that regard.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely hit up Peterson auto museum, go for a ride down Sunset to one of the beaches In Malibu. Maybe check out Chinatown at night, or catch a show at the Bowl. Great restaurants on Vermont & Hillhurst in Los Feliz like: Farfalle, Starfish sushi, Il Capriccio, Homestate

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mentor Angelina Pelano deserves some credit for sure. She gave me my apprenticeship & my way in to the career that I love. This was also at a time when such opportunities were not available as readily as they are now.
