We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie Ann and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julie Ann, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
In order to achieve work-life balance, I’ve currently reduced my accounting hours to a more flexible part time schedule.
Is it difficult to balance two jobs, dog mom duties, fitness, and squeezing in time for friends and family? At times, yes. However, I do believe that being successful takes consistency, discipline, and focus.
One of my key strategies to obtaining work-life balance would be time blocking : a time management technique where you schedule out every part of your day. With time blocking, you can break down your day into time slots where you check your email, work, exercise, or even walking your dog. Once you reclaim your day and get a better sense of where you spend a majority of your time, you can be more intentional with what you choose to do on a daily basis and focus more on activities that bring you joy.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Picnic Style is unique in the sense that I built it around the things I am most passionate about: outdoor picnics, puppies, yoga, boat rides, and delicious food pairings to name a few. For the past several months, I have been able to combine everything that I truly enjoy and get to share these amazing experiences with all of you. From the preparation to execution, I really enjoy the entire process. The best part is seeing the reactions when my clients first arrive!
We have hosted luxury picnics for birthdays, anniversaries, puppy parties, boat rides, bridal showers, and more! One of our most popular picnics would be our Vinyasa Flow Picnic where you can experience a private vinyasa flow session and a two hour luxury picnic all in one. It’s really the best of both worlds! Last year was very challenging for many people, so I’m incredibly excited to create fun and memorable experiences for all of you.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hangout, etc.
For hotel accommodations, I’d recommend the Paséa Hotel & Spa in Huntington Beach (dog-friendly). Pacific City is within walking distance, which provides oceanfront shopping and dining. I’d recommend Bluegold, Lemonade, or Tanner’s.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to say thank you to my friends and family who have been supportive of me from the beginning. A HUGE thank you to my amazing vendors: Team Lawler Customs, Yallah Flowers, Say Cheese HB, The Cheese Shop, Lavender Bee Balloons, Van Vo Photography, and Blushwood Co. Without them, The Picnic Style would cease to exist. It really does take an army to pull off each event and I’m so incredibly grateful to work with some of the best in the business. Plenty of new ideas coming soon, stay tuned!
