We had the good fortune of connecting with justin rasch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi justin, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Regular Social media Posting.
Social media has been the hugest help to our Home Business. We are getting contacted every
week by people wanting us to create animation for their company’s.
Having a very clear and regular Social media account has been keeping myself and our business in the consciousness of both fans and company’s interested in using us for a spot or our community to advertise a product too.
The other HUGE Factor is that I TRULY love animation and specifically stopmotion animation. I believe that people feel the passion through the screen and when information is shared as well as entertainment your following will go up.
I think connecting with your fans is very important too. Answering questions, doing live streams, and generally interacting is very beneficial as well.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a professional stopmotion animator and have worked in Stopmotion ,CG and 2d for the last 26 years.
What sets me apart from other animators in the business is our Family studio creates DYNAMIC Action animation and films that are more believable than most studios outside of FEATURE FILM.
Higher quality work , True love for the medium , Passionate creativity
I arrived at being an animator by being inspired through film making of classic 2d and live action fantasy films through the 70’s 80’s and beyond. Puppet making , stopmotion and practical fx are as close to real magic as I have found in my life.
I went to art school and learned the craft that I have used as a professional over the last 26 years.
Nothing about animation is Easy, its incredibly challenging at every turn but the reward of seeing a drawing come to life or a puppet breathing with weight and soul is immeasurable.
I have learned countless lessons over the years but the main lesson is “Hard work is the easy part” You will
get there through consistent hard work like most things in life.
I want the world to know that I would be animating for free if I Didn’t get paid for it…..but this is a skill just like
anything that took thousands and thousands of hours to build. Please respect the artists you are asking to do work for you.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to San Diego and hit up the beach. I would take them out to Mormon rocks for a hike. I would take them out to malibu for some hikes and beach time. I’d hit my favorite skate parks in the area. Etnies , Laguna niguel skate and soccer.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife and Film making partner. She is 50% of every project we do at our studio. From writing to Final Edit , she is getting her hands dirty and getting us over the finish line at a HIGH level.
She is a full time Therapist as well as a film maker and mother.
