We had the good fortune of connecting with Karizma Villafuerte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karizma, how do you think about risk?
When you believe in something sooooo much risk is not a concern. Is it scary YES! of Course but your love, your drive and how much you believe mix in your work ethic it becomes all good.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a creative we can’t help but be creative It’s like breathing we must do it to live. When I was a kid I wasn’t allowed to draw/color my parents did not see it as productive it was more like a fun thing to do the only problem was I was always doing it I couldn’t help it I would draw on my clothes, on my walls, in the dining table, on my homework which result in getting in trouble I have old school parents which means I got beat lol but I still did it. When I was 9 I stole my dad flashlight and would wait for everyone to go to sleep then I would go under my bed and draw.

I’m proud of myself because I have made my art/ design into a profession. Its crazy to think that I get paid for my work because I would still do it if I didn’t. When I created Solroots my own clothing brand I put my heart and Soul into it. I wanted to give back and if I can help another little creative person like Mr, Japs did for me its all worth it.

Solroots is dedicated to created enriching, wearable apparel with meaningful, educational and inspirational artwork that makes you look and feel good.

With each sale $7 will go towards the Solroots Movement, which will create free art events for children and team up with local charities within the local community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living here in So Cal is the best, it all depend on the mood but going to art shows or art gallery’s in LA is the best. Food OMG we have it all Food truck are the bomb. We can go san Diego go hiking see the best sunset and hang out or go to desert Joshua Tree and see the stars then next day drive pacific coast highway and head to wineries. Here in California we play to much I love it. LA living.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The Biggest Shoutout is to Mr. Japs. I met him at age 7 he was the principal at my school and then became my track coach, He change my stars, he believe in me so much I had no choice but to believe in me too.. He taught me that it was ok to dream, how to plan, focus and execute.
