Meet Katelyn Marie Piz: Singing Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katelyn Marie Piz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katelyn Marie, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Don’t let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game”. I think I heard this in the Mighty Ducks movie as a kid and it has always stuck with me. It’s so easy to let fear of failure hold you back and this quote reminds me that if you don’t shoot, you can’t score.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have sung for as long as I can remember. Growing up my Mom played a lot of country music and I was drawn to it from the first song. The harmonies…the stories… something about it just feel like home. I sang in choirs growing up, and learned how to play guitar, which quickly lead me to my love for song writing. When I was 15 I sang back up vocals for a local band and after the show I just knew. I knew that the stage was where I was meant to be from the way I felt. From there, I started playing solo shows, and later got a band. And now- music is my job! I play all over so-cal (mostly in orange county) several nights a week! I feel very fortunate to make a living doing something I am so passionate about.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout would definitely be to my Mom. She has been along for the ride since the beginning and supported me through all the highs and lows. I would be lost without her!
