We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Rayle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by the way people move.  I am intrigued by the natural expression of human beings and what we can say through movement.  I think this curiosity helps me assist others in all the ways I employ my gifts as a teacher and a creative.  In fact, I was recently hired to collaborate with an incredibly talented recording artist creating dance and movement for her new video.  I met with her and was immediately inspired by her willingness to take on the work.  I’m really inspired by the song as it is. It is such an authentic expression of the time we live in and also creating movement on her is just such a delight.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My dance career led me to Pilates, taking a break from showbusiness, led me to opening a studio.  My studio was shut down after 7 years March 2020.  The awakenings and creativity that have come into my life in the pandemic have been very surreal.  I am currently  balancing my act between contributing movement and choreography to some LA artists’ work and making (the best I’ve ever seen) online content on the reformer that will be up in the next month.

I spent most of the last 7 years seeing Private clients in my own studio in Santa Monica, recommending Osteopathic Doctors and Chiropractic work as well as bodyworkers and nutritionists upon request,  I learned so so so much about why what I did was different from going to another well sought out fitness trainer in LA or a PT.  The combination of the knowledge and of healing my own injuries from a grueling dance career, my own intuition, and the experience of helping hundreds of others through spinal fusions, hip replacements, knee surgeries, et al, led me to a really successful Private Practice as well as trademarking Core L’etoile.

Core L’etoile is a way of practicing movement and Pilates in a specific way that keeps things flowing more than other total body workouts in that the approach is always subtle and fluid and deep strength gets built over time after connectivity is established and/or restored.  Clients go into exploring the magic of the psoas, which is often left unexplored in fitness and in my opinion, the gateway to the freedom of movement.  We let go of armor to build this connection and then revisit the big muscle groups in other workouts, or at the end of the practice.  It probably sounds heady, but it isn’t at all.  It’s a real joy for people to connect to visualization, rhythms that aren’t their own, and dial into doing movements that create those connections and feeling some other layers of the body at the same time.

In the coming months, I am releasing 2 In Home Reformer Programs that can be done from anywhere.  You can watch them on any device.  After a decade of in person Reformer work, and over a year of online work with this movement language, I came to realize that the success is rooted in the sequencing of these exercises as they follow or precede certain release techniques and many of these tools could be offered without the eyes of a trainer.  We’ve done all the work showing you how to safely setup your machine, mindbody connections to consider while moving, all set to ambient music to dial down your nervous system.
