We had the good fortune of connecting with Kellie Fell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kellie, what inspires you?
It might sound corny but I’m inspired by every mom that makes it to class! It takes a lot of work to get yourself and your child(ren) packed up and out the door, and a lot of courage to step into a new situation. Moms juggle a lot and when they take (or rather, make) the time to take care of themselves with the physical and mental care that come with our exercise and community classes, it’s an inspiring reminder for me to do the same. And it inspires me to continue working to create an environment where they want to come and spend their precious time!

What should our readers know about your business?
After having my first child, I was surprised to find myself not wanting to go back to my previous job in television, which I really enjoyed. I decided to stay home and was on the hunt for what was next when I attended my first Stroller Strides class with FIT4MOM Westside. It not only offered a way for me to exercise with my baby in tow, but a chance to connect with a group of moms I could be real with and commiserate over teething, blowouts, and sleep deprivation. I found friends and a fun way to get moving every day, and I never looked back! When the business was up for sale about five years later, I decided buying a business with no business or fitness background -while 8 months pregnant- was a great idea! But what sets apart this business is that fitness is only PART of it. It’s the community that makes it so special. Creating a safe space for moms and their kiddos to connect. That’s what I was passionate about and what sets us apart. I overcame my lack of fitness knowledge by getting certified in all the formats we offer, taking all the continuing education courses I can, and being dedicated to always learning and growing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you’re coming to visit, we’re gonna enjoy some sunshine and food! We’d start the morning with a good sweat at a Stroller Strides class in Playa Vista, of course, and after class grab a coffee and pastry from one of my go-to spots, Superba in Venice. We’d split a kouign-amann and a few other beauties from the pastry case while we chat on the patio. Then we’d head over to the beach (grabbing a quick to-go lunch from Del Rey Deli Co. in Playa del Rey on the way), set up blankets and umbrellas, and let the kids splash and play in the water while we hang out. Before collapsing from exhaustion we’d head over to Three Weavers in Inglewood for a freshly brewed IPA in the afternoon sun. Other fun ways to spend a SoCal day would be taking them + the kids to the LA Zoo and heading over to Golden Road Brewing afterward, and a trip up to The Malibu Cafe at Calamigos Ranch. Clearly enjoying a drink outside where kids are allowed is a running theme.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shouout all the moms who have joined us the last few years – for classes, events, everything. We literally couldn’t do it without them! Their support (especially while we were completely virtual), loyalty, and dedication to our community means the world to me. And I couldn’t have done it without my amazing instructors who teach awesome classes and help clients feel welcome and seen every day. Lastly, my husband for creating a whole PowerPoint to convince me I should take the leap into ownership and my kids for going along with all of it.
