Meet Kelly Cloud

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Cloud and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, how do you think about risk?
Risk, my middle name. Risk is everything. When I think of the word risk, I think: take it. Life is meant to be lived fully and truly living means stepping into the unknown, even when it feels a little insane.

I wouldn’t be where I am now without taking an unreasonable amount of chances. Sometimes those chances or risks lead to what looks like a mistake ; but that “mistake” ends up guiding you exactly where you were meant to go.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a multidisciplinary artist so I dance between, oil painting, sculpture, design, and modeling. I would categorize myself as a surrealist artist. What sets me apart from others are the subjects I choose to create from and the lens through which I filter them. I draw from scientific concepts such as uncertainty, probability, and superposition, but I approach them as emotional conditions of being rather than theoretical ideas. My practice often involves a deep emotional dissection, exploring the tensions between softness and rupture, beauty and imperfection, chaos and control. Through layered compositions, I create moods and psychological environments where emotion is translated into color, form, and atmosphere.

I’m most proud of my fearlessness ; moving to a new country and starting over at 40. I’m incredibly excited for this new chapter of my life in Europe and for everything I will build, both in mind and body. Nothing truly worthwhile is easy, but it’s always worth it. I’m learning to have fun in the process and to really enjoy the journey, instead of being overly focused on the destination.
The journey itself is what matters most. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is stress management. Understanding how to regulate my nervous system while staying focused and moving forward. It’s been a true life changer. Aww I think what I would want everyone to remember or know about my story is authenticity. This is very important to me 🙂

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well if we were in LA I would probably take them on a hike. There are so many beautiful hikes in Los Angels. And obviously Erewhon.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m incredibly grateful to my parents for believing in me from day one. Having that kind of unwavering parental support is a privilege I never take for granted, and I know it has shaped my mindset and given me the courage to pursue my dreams and be daring in my ambitions.

I’m equally thankful for the chosen family, friends, community, and clients who have supported me along the way. Nothing would be possible without them.
